Erdös

Paul Erdös

"Paul Erdös, the most prolific mathematician who ever lived, [had] no home and no job, but he wandered the world for more than fifty years, inspiring other mathematicians." So says George Paul Csicery in his 1993 documentary "N Is a Number: A Portrait of Paul Erdös."

It is thus that Paul Erdös is a fitting emblem for the disperse collective of SDMC's "at large" student members who do not have a permanent place in SDMC's regular weekly programs, but may participate in more ad hoc fashion in some events.

This is not an open call for any student to create an association with SDMC - as in all other activities, we have limitations in what we can do - but as circumstances arise that make the use of "at large" memberships appropriate for SDMC's own internal purposes, the Erdös group will be their symbolic home.

The "Erdös Coordinator" is a particular parent volunteer who assists SDMC in these matters.
