Board of Directors
The San Diego Math Circle is a California public benefit corporation. As such, we have a Board of Directors with whom rests the ultimate authority over SDMC according to our articles of incorporation and bylaws.
Each of our Directors also fills one or more operational roles as a Corporate Officer.

Tom has been active in the healthcare industry since 1989, following his study of Finance at Loyola Marymount University and Economics at the UCLA. He has extensive experience in managing both academic and private practice medical groups and is a frequent lecturer on medical group dynamics and practice development. He has held positions as both CEO and Practice Administrator and has served on the Board of Directors for large medical groups.
Tom has also been an SDMC parent for some years. He and his wife Kathy have volunteered in diverse ways around SDMC and in support of the ARML team. Tom has been instrumental in guiding us through the process of incorporation as an independent non-profit entity. We are fortunate to benefit from his experience and expertise.
David Vaughn is a founder and owner of ClariVest Asset Management, where he manages international, global, and emerging market equity portfolios using quantitatively-based techniques. He received a Bachelors Degree from Caltech in Economics and an MS in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon, and has been awarded the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation. As an undergraduate, David was on the instructional staff of Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth (CTY) for two summers. In high school in Texas, he competed in numerous math and science competitions, winning first place in Science at the TMSCA State Contest four years in a row, as well as being the top scorer in Chemistry in the UIL State Contest as a senior. He enjoys playing tennis and table tennis.
